OUR STORY

Family-Owned Farm Since 2020

James and Michelle Sampson

ABOUT SAMPSON'S RIVER BEND FARM

James grew up in West Virginia on the family farm.  He and his family have always had livestock.  His grandparents, “Spry Farms”, had beef and dairy cattle but eventually quit milking and focused on a large cow calf operation. They raised and showed Hereford bulls and crossed them onto Angus cows to produce top of the line black baldie calves. James had horses, cattle, chickens and raised show pigs.  Michelle grew up in town in Iowa.  While her grandparents have a farm, the animals were gone by the time she was born.  So all the animals are a new adventure for her.

After living in Missouri and central Iowa for several years, we decided to move to Northwest Iowa to be closer to family.  Busy city life, with traffic and houses close together with no yards, we decided country life would be a better option for us.

We found an old farmhouse with a rundown barn.  James saw the potential of what the property could be.  With his strong background in construction, we have been renovating and building the farm over the last five years.

Our princess pup, Maggie May, loves all the animals and likes to come out and “help” with chores.  She likes playing with the cattle, especially the calves, and is a great momma to the baby pigeons and chicks.
